March 15th, 2015 The RUN is 9 out of 10 Weeks

Waist high or better, at least once a week. There was
not a single wave that was waist high this week.

No waves. No Revis. No accounting of Hillary's emails.

I'm sure that most of you were up north taking advantage of the great snow conditions we've had this winter, so missing surf this week was no big deal. But this does set us back a week on the weekly run. The waist high or better scale is now 9 out of 10 weeks. One more week of no surf, and we start over. There is surf today, and there should be surf tomorrow as well. So we have at least another week to fit that criteria. It will be 10 out of 11 weeks come next Sunday.

Had two friends who are significantly younger than me, say to me today as they were exiting the water, that they haven't surfed in weeks. I know the feeling. It's not fun. And I know something else they don't know. It's called getting old. Damn that was something I never thought would really affect me. But age gets us all. Every single one of us.

From having the hair on your head retreat to your back, ears, and other places you never saw hair. To the bending and lifting that has now become cumbersome. Back pain, knee pain, elbow pain, pelvis pain, and every other pain. Lord knows I've experienced them all.

Better Call The BACK TO HEALTH team of Dr's William and Sofia Haffenreffer. See their ad in the right column. William is both a surfer and a snow boarder, so he knows how to get you back to health with little or no pain and discomfort. But most importantly, he and Sofia can get you back in the water again. Back To Health surfing again.

So by now all of Patriot's Nation has heard the news about Revis leaving the Patriots, and heading back to NY to rejoin the JETS. With a large sum of money waiting for him, Revis has decided that money is more important than this.

This could very well be the last time he gets his hands on the Lombardi trophy. Getting to the Superbowl with the NY JETS is a long shot. But hey Darelle, you still have your hands on that $70 million.

You won't have a coach quite like this guy either. Thanks for the memories number 24. You may be rich , but you won't be a champ again with those chumps.

Speaking of champs. The ESA All Star Team was just in Hawaii surfing the North Shore's infamous stretch of sand and reef. One of the team's members is from Hampton, NH. 14yr old Kai Nichols was fortunate enough to visit Oahu for the second time in his life as a young man. Kai was actually born in Hawaii, so in a sense, he is returning home. Two of his 3 sisters live there. Julia and Hoku.

Kai Nichols sure looks natural and at ease in these tropical and
idyllic surroundings.

And his surfing was an easy transition from the cold water and air temps of New Hampshire to the Islands. It's not the same going back though. But any surfer traveling from New England to the tropics always hits the water feeling 10lbs lighter. Which you really are. Taking off a 5-4-3 wetsuit with boots, gloves, and a hood, then
surfing in trunks and a rash guard is such a welcome relief, and
a true motivator to loosen up and go for it.

And make no mistake about it. Kai was pushing the pedal to the metal on every wave he took off on.

Local surfer/comic/actor Jimmy Dunn has two big shows coming up that are in driving range for all New Englanders..

Next up is the ROAST of Jimmy Dunn. My guess is Jimmy will have more than enough return fire. This is going to be one hell of a night.

Mark it down kids. Saturday, March 28th, 2015. Click on the image above to get more info.

Speaking of actors. This actor passed away this week at age 36. He was the guy in the Miller High Life commercials. Windell Middlebrook was a kind and gentle man, according to those who knew him.

RIP big man.

Another local loss was the passing of Philip Beauchesne Sr from Marblehead, MA. The father of two local surfers Phil and Artie. Phil senior was a great guy, and I always enjoyed speaking with him on the phone back in the 70's and 80's. Seriously, I think I spent more time talking with him than I did Phil and Artie. He was such an interesting man, and his obituary tells his story.
Just click on the photo below to read it.

He put a lot of bad people away, and helped keep our streets and communities safe, by taking on the most dangerous cases. He will be missed by family and friends. Again, click on this photo to read the obituary of Philip Beauchesne.

Rest in peace Phil.

Now for Some Of My Weekly Global Observances
Have any of you been following the HBO series based on this looney bird? Robert "Bob" Durst has been involved with three murders and somehow has gotten away with it. He was arrested last night in New Orleans.

The HBO series JINX has been fascinating to watch.

Maybe now, he will finally be charged with one of these murders.
He really doesn't fit the killer look huh? He is this short dweeby sort of guy with blinking eyes. But he's a cold blooded killer.

I'm sure you've heard about this story. The 47 GOP Senators sending a letter to the leader of IRAN letting them know that all negotiations with President Obama will be null and void once he leaves office. While I am not a big fan of Obama, I am a fan of the office he holds. And I'm a bigger fan of the country he and all of us live in. I think the letter was a big mistake.

It was embarrassing and did nothing but cause more trouble for the GOP and the President. I literally shook my head when I
caught wind of this. This country is still so divided.

Speaking of which. We ALL hope and pray that the two police officers that were shot in Ferguson this week will have a speedy recovery. And we hop they find who did this.

Okay, the other really big story this week was the Hillary Clinton Emails. I mean, this was big. And like all other political embarrassing stories this one still has legs. In fact, I don't see it slowing down until each and every email is exposed to the public. Even though, I don't think we need to see her personal emails.

In hindsight she should of kept a separate text and phone for all of her government work. It's pretty simple Mrs Clinton. But like your husband before you, you guys like to take chances. It's almost like a drug with you two.

Sorry I though this was funny...sort of.

The one above is hard to read so I will type it out for you.
"I did NOT have Inappropriate email with that server."
Sound familiar?

My weekly humiliation of KSM knows no boundaries.
Here we see KSM trying to read Hillary's text message.

So once again, please enjoy the weekly humiliation of the mastermind terrorist who killed 3,000 innocent civilians on September 11th, 2001.
Khalid Sheik Mohammed (KSM), the mastermind behind 9-11 the captured Al Qeada ICON is getting his weekly slap in the face. You're welcome KSM fans.

* Note to self: Must pick up a NEW HOME SERVER at Home Depot this week.

A Wave a day for 365 consecutive days.
Yesterday- Hawaiian Water Shot 1982.
(Below) The surfer is Lenny Nichols and I was the photographer. But I have forgotten where this was taken. I do know that it was somewhere on the outer reefs on Oahu. The north west side. We went out in Lenny's Zodiac looking to get water shots for my band's LP cover or inside cover. This was taken with a cheap Minolta camera. It was all I could afford back in those days. I will say that we had some great adventures on that boat exploring those razor sharp and shallow reef passes. And we found some great surf out there too.

USUAL SUSPECTS by Tamayo Perry

I blew out my knee surfing Pipeline a few days prior to this session. Not being able to surf, I decided to test my injury by swimming out with my fins and water camera on the new rising 8 to 10 foot swell. Here are the fruits of my labor, fully edited to music for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy in 1080p!

FEBRUARY 19th, 2015

70 years ago today the Marines landed on Iwo Jima. February 19th, 1945. My uncle was there and my dad was on another Island in the South Pacific. I shot this video today of my son Max and the music is by my nephew Jesse and my brother John is playing the guitar solo. It dawned on me as I stood on that cold beach today, that had my uncle been killed, or my father died over there, none of this video would have happened today. But they survived and as a result this clip is here for all to see. This clip is dedicated to the 6,281 Marines who died on Iwo Jima and to all the men and women who fought in WWII.

God Bless them all.

Ralph

WINTER STORM MARCUS DAY II

Well seeing how winter storm MARCUS was a 4 day swell and each day was significant, I shot more that I typically would shoot. I had posted the first MARCUS clip last week. It was a Black and White clip. My first B&W in many years. This was all shot on February 12th, 2015. It was snowing pretty heavy by the end of the day. What else is new? We've had a crazy winter here in New Hampshire. The surfers are the usual suspects. Weston Rogers, Dave Cropper, Perry Reynolds, Max Fatello, Peter Stokes, Lenny Nichols, Kevin Grondin, and a bunch of others. The music is by Jimi Hendrix. It's short but sweet. I hope you like it.

Thanks

Ralph

Winter Storm MARCUS in Black and White from SFOD/Ralph's Pic Of The Week February 10th, 2015.

My first B&W clip since the 80's. The local boys were tearing it up out there. Weston Rogers, Stevie O'Hara, Max Fatello, Dave Cropper, Kevin Grondin, Phil Carey, Peter Stokes, Casey Lockwood, and Roger Beal. The tune is by LZ and it kicks. Just one more in the winter storm series. Hope you like it.
